ChristChurch Cathedral Choir 2012 Encore Tour Postponed

Following the very successful tour of some of the world's greatest cathedrals in July/August of 2008, the ChristChurch Cathedral Choir was preparing to embark on an encore tour. It is with much regret that this tour has been postponed.

Music

In the 2008 world tour, 16 boys and 12 men sang in Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral, Cambridge, Coventry, Oxford (including at Christ Church), Exeter, Hereford and Gloucester, beginning in Grace Cathedral, San Francisco.

This was the first time this cathedral's choir had visited Britain, the home of choral music, in its 126 years of existence.  The choir's excellence was recognised by visiting British Cathedral choir directors, who invited the choir to sing at cathedral services and give concerts across Britain.

The encore tour was being planned for 2012 but due to the destruction of the ChristChurch Cathedral, and the ongoing earthquakes, it was decided, with much regret,  that a tour at this time was not feasible.
